Osteopathy for Babies

The Osteopathic treatment of newborn babies and babies is a significant part of my practice. Babies have their own unique experience of being in the womb, being born and adapting to semi independent life on the outside. These influences can affect their early lives and sometimes their entire life. Intrauterine issues and birth trauma can result in an unsettled or irritated baby. Some signs of Irritability or discomfort might include:

  • Continual crying
  • Colic
  • Suckling / feeding difficulties
  • Sleep issues
  • Constipation
  • Screaming in the car seat
  • They seem rigid or stiff
You have probably been told by the paediatrician or midwife nothing is medically wrong but still your baby is struggling! This is when an experienced Cranial Osteopath with over 30 years in practice treating babies can so often help.

Babies have been a specific interest area for me which developed in my final year of  university and have since done  extensive post graduate training. I was a trainee volunteer at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London and was personally supervised by some of the Worlds’ best Paediatric Osteopaths. My practice has attracted new borns, growing babies and children for over 30 years and as a father of three I have an understanding of what happens outside of the clinic.

Babies are not just small adults, they are rapidly evolving and developing and are subject to a range of issues often associated with intrauterine or birth related events.

The resultant strains can have a profound effect on their early life and may persist throughout childhood. Removing such strains using gentle osteopathic treatment is our aim.
